Staff Software Engineer - Route Success
About The Position
The Route Success engineering team owns the systems which power the on the road experience for our driver partners in the final mile of our logistics network. The team is responsible for driving successful outcomes for our driver partners throughout the delivery lifecycle, and ensuring top notch experiences for the customers and clients we service. As a Staff Software Engineer you will be responsible for building tooling that powers our driver partners experience on the Veho platform. You’ll work on projects related to geo spatial, driver and consumer powered data to give drivers the tools they need to deliver to addresses across our network, and ensure high standards of success for deliveries. You will build APIs and applications which integrate with data science systems to empower data-informed decisions, and work with various cross-functional teams to drive high-impact architectural solutions and hands-on development, including inception, design, execution, and delivery following good design and coding practices.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building, testing and deploying applications in high traffic production environments
- 4+ years of experience developing software with AWS, TypeScript, Node.js and React and serverless technologies
- Enjoys taking initiative, is a self-starter, willing to move fast and ship quick, and is excited about collaborating on big challenges
- Enthusiastic about working closely with data science, product and operations team members to develop creative solutions to never-before-solved problems in a brand new problem space
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
- Solid software development background including serverless patterns, data structures, and system design
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information effectively to internal and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Architecting, building, testing, and deploying full stack applications and APIs that support the driver experience, and the internal tools which power that experience
- Modifying designs and specifications of complex, distributed micro service applications
- Collaborating and adding value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions
- Working with technical and non-technical end-users, other engineers, data scientists and product managers in a cross functional, quick moving, and collaborative environment
- Analyzing code, requirements, system risks, and software reliability and providing recommendations on how to leverage our technology more efficiently
- Working with Product and Design to confirm requirements, prioritization, and development of new features, and engage in evaluation of tradeoff decisions between business, technical, and product outcomes
- Working with our Data Science teams to integrate their data based decisions into our product offerings
- Leverage AI-native development workflows and tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) to accelerate engineering throughput
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to other Sr and Software Engineers on the team, as well as partnering with other staff engineers outside of the team to align on coherent technical strategy and implementation
