About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and innovation. The successful candidate will mentor engineering teams, collaborate across functions, and leverage data-driven practices to solve complex problems. This position requires strong technical judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement to support Walmart’s strategic objectives and enhance engineering productivity. The Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) team provides end-to-end fulfillment solutions for Walmart Marketplace sellers, supporting scalable business growth. The team comprises Engineering, Product, Business, and Analytics professionals collaborating to develop innovative supply chain features like inbound inventory simplification and personalized forecasting. Focused on high-performance, scalable solutions, the group drives iterative development, technical architecture, and engineering excellence. Team members work closely with cross-functional partners to adapt to evolving business needs, optimize platform scalability and cost, and foster continuous improvement and innovation in platform design and development.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
  • Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
  • Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation features using languages such as Python, JavaScript, and C++.
  • Demonstrated skills in technical leadership, mentorship, and fostering continuous learning within engineering teams.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional stakeholders and drive data-driven decision making.
  • Adaptability to change and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in engineering practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
