About The Position

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.'s DragonX automation team is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to design and develop large-scale software and automation solutions for data center chipset and platform validation. This hands-on engineering role focuses on building scalable automation infrastructure for test orchestration, resource management, test execution, results analysis, and failure triage across pre-silicon and post-silicon environments. The engineer will apply strong programming, debugging, and systems skills to take complex technical problems from design through implementation, testing, and deployment. The role works closely with software, validation, infrastructure, data center, and SoC teams to deliver reliable automation capabilities used across data center programs. It also contributes to architecture and design decisions, code and design reviews, and technical guidance and mentoring for other engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; the minimum qualifications also specify qualifying master's or PhD degrees with progressively fewer years of experience.
  • At least 4 years of Software Engineering or related work experience with a bachelor's degree, 3+ years with a master's degree, or 2+ years with a PhD.
  • At least 2 years of work experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Strong professional software engineering background, including demonstrated experience building complex, production-quality software systems.
  • Strong Python programming skills and solid knowledge of software design, APIs, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience with Linux, distributed systems, REST services, databases, SQL, and software automation.
  • Experience developing systems that manage parallel or distributed workloads.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across applications, services, infrastructure, and automation environments.
  • Ability to independently own complex technical problems from design and implementation through testing and deployment.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and contribute to technical design and architecture decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing automation or software infrastructure for data center silicon, CPUs, GPUs, AI accelerators, DSPs, NPUs, or heterogeneous SoCs.
  • Experience with test automation, validation infrastructure, job orchestration, resource scheduling, or device-management systems.
  • Familiarity with data center compute architectures and workloads, including compute-intensive and AI/ML workloads.
  • Experience with pre-silicon and/or post-silicon validation.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, distributed compute, CI/CD, telemetry, and observability.
  • Experience developing platforms, services, or APIs used by multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software for data center chipset and platform test automation.
  • Build scalable solutions for test orchestration, job automation, resource management, test execution, monitoring, results processing, and failure analysis.
  • Develop robust software and backend services using Python, REST APIs, databases, distributed systems, and modern web technologies.
  • Design reusable APIs and automation frameworks to support integration of new chipsets, workloads, platforms, and test environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems spanning software services, automation infrastructure, compute resources, test environments, and target platforms.
  • Improve the performance, reliability, scalability, observability, and maintainability of existing automation systems.
  • Work with data center, SoC, software, validation, and infrastructure teams to turn engineering requirements into practical software solutions.
  • Contribute to architecture and design decisions, conduct code and design reviews, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual discretionary bonus program.
  • Opportunity for annual RSU grants; employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for the annual bonus.
  • Competitive benefits package designed to support employees at work, at home, and at play.
