About The Position

This is a Staff Backend Engineer role at a fast-growing Series B technology company in New York. It is a Staff-level Individual Contributor (IC) role where you will write production code and have a scope that extends beyond your own feature area. The company is building an AI-powered healthcare platform that processes complex data at scale, presenting interesting challenges in distributed systems, APIs, data processing, cloud infrastructure, and Generative AI (GenAI). The role involves taking ownership of major backend systems, setting architectural direction across teams, making critical technical decisions, and elevating engineering standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering
• At least one year operating formally at Staff level
• Strong engineering pedigree from recognized tech/growth companies
• Startup or scale-up experience
• Evidence of influencing architecture across multiple engineers or teams
• Ability to clearly explain personal designs, owned decisions, influence on other engineers, and production impact
