About The Position

Healthie is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to help plan and execute ambitious and impactful projects. This role involves working with an agile team to build innovative 0-1 products and make key strategic architecture decisions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, experience in healthcare infrastructure and early-stage startups, and a passion for mentorship and leading technical initiatives. The company is building infrastructure for modern healthcare delivery, providing an API-first, ONC-Certified EHR for healthcare delivery outside of the hospital. Their platform includes EHR, scheduling, patient engagement, and billing, accessible via modern APIs and a white-labeled UI. Healthie is AI-enabled and AI-accelerated in its development process, seeking team members who leverage AI-powered development tools and embrace automation.

Requirements

10+ years of relevant industry experience (healthtech/healthcare is a plus!) shipping applications to production environments.
Mastery in software development, system design, and coding with proficiency in Agile methodologies.
Experience in cloud computing, DevOps, database management, scalable AI/ML models
Proficiency in performance optimization, complex system architecture, and data processing.
Ability to work cross-functionally with PMs and Designers to drive innovation forward quickly and with quality. Emphasis on iterative development, feedback loops, and data-driven decision-making.
Excel at organizing input from stakeholders to define business objectives, translating these into actionable system requirements, and developing and executing technology roadmaps that drive results end to end.
Best practice experience with coding standards, refactoring, complexity reduction, Domain Driven Design, and schema design.
Tech leadership experience as well as experience with object oriented design and modularization of monolithic applications and have experience maintaining and upgrading Ruby and Rails-based production stacks.
Pragmatic prioritization: Ability to prioritize platform needs to both short term and long term business needs.

Ability to deliver in a remote-first environment, regularly contributing to code review, actively looking for security vulnerabilities, systematically debugging customer-facing issues, working comfortably with both greenfield and legacy systems, and helping grow a DevOps culture.
