About The Position

PayPal, Inc. seeks Staff Software Engineer in Austin, Texas. This role involves defining and executing the mobile technology roadmap, building and leading high-performing mobile engineering teams, and driving innovation and experimentation in mobile development. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class mobile experiences, mentor and coach senior engineers, and foster a culture of innovation. A key aspect of the role is partnering effectively with product and engineering leadership to oversee mobile architecture and design, as well as designing, developing, and delivering software and/or platforms (libraries). The position requires deep expertise in mobile technologies and architecture. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a closely related field, plus four years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a closely related field, plus six years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining mobile applications (Android) using Java and Kotlin (4 years)
  • Experience with object-oriented programming principles in design, coding, and testing patterns (4 years)
  • Experience integrating and consuming REST APIs (4 years)
  • Experience using Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices (4 years)
  • Experience managing source code repositories using Git, including branching, merging, and version control. (4 years)
  • Experience writing and executing unit tests and UI tests (4 years)
  • Experience in profiling and optimizing Android applications for memory usage, CPU load, and UI responsiveness. (4 years)
  • Experience implementing and adhering to device and network security best practices (4 years)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
