Staff Software Engineer

GitwitTulsa, OK
$190,000 - $230,000Onsite

About The Position

Gitwit is an AI-first venture studio focused on identifying and building new ventures. This role is for an experienced engineer who wants to be involved in the entire product creation process, from conception to traction. The engineer will shape products, make foundational technical decisions, work closely with users and cross-functional teams, and contribute to venture-level decisions. Unlike traditional roles, this position offers the opportunity to build multiple ventures from scratch, gaining diverse experience and upside without being tied to a single bet. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and high-trust, emphasizing rapid iteration and direct impact.

Requirements

  • Experience as an early engineer at a startup, building a new product/system from scratch within a larger company, or creating something independently and carrying it far.
  • Demonstrated experience building from zero and executing within something already defined.
  • Ability to make meaningful product, technical, and speed-versus-quality tradeoffs in the real world.
  • Thinking like a product builder, caring about what should be built, user needs, simplification, and what is not worth building.
  • Ability to move well in ambiguity and create clarity while building.
  • Strong technical judgment to make sound architectural and tooling decisions for the stage, without over-engineering or blindly defaulting to new technologies.
  • Voracious learners with sharp judgment about emerging technology, especially AI capabilities, tools, interfaces, and product patterns.
  • Ability to evaluate new technology quickly, apply it selectively, and use it where it creates leverage.
  • Having taste and caring whether something is sharp, usable, coherent, and worth a user’s time.
  • Ability to work as part of a real venture team, communicating clearly and collaborating well.
  • Ability to think across product, user, business, and technical realities without losing rigor.
  • Desire for real ownership, including authorship over what gets built and how it earns traction.

Responsibilities

  • Shaping products from the beginning, defining what should be built, what should wait, and what should be cut.
  • Building from zero and shipping fast, taking ideas from concept to prototype to real product.
  • Making foundational technical decisions, including choosing tools and architecture.
  • Working close to the truth by learning directly from users and pressure-testing assumptions.
  • Building across the full product reality, considering technical functionality, usefulness, usability, differentiation, and economic soundness.
  • Operating at a pace that keeps things fun, with small teams and minimal process.
  • Helping shape ventures, not just software, by contributing to decisions about features, products, or companies.
