Staff Software Engineer - Virtualization

General Motors•Milford, MI
•$171,150 - $288,500•Remote

About The Position

General Motors is seeking a hands-on technical leader to shape and scale engineering platforms for building, testing, integrating, validating, and delivering embedded software for software-defined vehicles. The role leads a major capability across multiple teams, influences technical direction beyond the immediate organization, and connects software, tooling, infrastructure, test, and release activities into a coherent engineering system. It focuses on turning ambiguous, cross-team problems into durable architecture, practical standards, and measurable improvements in engineering effectiveness, release confidence, and product quality. The position is remote, with employees who live within 50 miles of a GM hub expected to report to that location three times per week or at another frequency set by their manager. Travel is required for less than 25% of the role. Qualified candidates may be eligible for relocation benefits. The role may also qualify for GM's vehicle evaluation program after a motor vehicle report review; participants generally must purchase or lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years, subject to limited exceptions.
