About The Position

Foundation Health is building an AI operating system for pharmacies to address challenges like delayed prescriptions due to prior authorizations, administrative burdens on pharmacists, and prescriptions being missed between health systems. They believe AI can streamline care coordination, especially for specialty pharmacy. The company aims for a future where pharmacy teams focus on patient care, with AI handling routine tasks. They are seeking motivated individuals to help solve complex healthcare problems. The role involves owning the technical direction of core products, including prior authorization pipelines, Epic integrations, and AI agents for patient communication. The Staff Engineer will make architectural decisions, write code, and establish technical standards. As one of the first senior engineers in the Orlando hub, they will also influence team processes. The work is greenfield and AI-native, with rapid deployment of solutions used by pharmacists.

Requirements

  • A track record of building complex systems from scratch.
  • Ability to discuss specific technical decisions and the reasoning behind them.
  • High agency; ability to identify needs and act without waiting for perfectly scoped tickets.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Daily use of AI tools (e.g., Claude/Cursor) and a desire to advance their application.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical direction of core products such as prior authorization pipelines, Epic integrations, and AI agents for patient calls and texts.
  • Make architectural decisions and write significant amounts of code.
  • Set the technical standard for the team.
  • Shape how the team works as one of the first senior engineers in the Orlando hub.
  • Build production agentic systems in a regulated environment, including automated workflows, LLM-assisted QA, and AI features (RAG, function calling, evals) with a high evaluation bar due to patient care impact.
  • Design multi-component systems across product domains, covering Epic integration, prior auth pipelines, and patient communication infrastructure.
  • Set the technical bar through personal code contributions and technical decisions.
  • Ensure delivery across a workstream, managing cross-team dependencies, aligning roadmaps with product milestones, and being accountable for shipping software that solves user problems.
