Foundation Health is an AI operating system for pharmacy, built by a team that understands the challenges firsthand. They aim to use AI to streamline prior authorizations, reduce paperwork for pharmacists, and prevent prescriptions from being missed. The company is developing AI infrastructure to improve care coordination, specifically for specialty pharmacy. Their goal is for pharmacy teams to focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks, with AI handling routine processes. The company's platform is currently live in major US health systems, including Intermountain Health, and integrates with Epic workflows. They have a public partnership with Amazon Pharmacy and have raised $20M in Series A funding led by Define Ventures. The company has approximately 70 employees, has passed product-market fit, and is experiencing rapid growth driven by enterprise customers. They are establishing an engineering hub in Orlando and are seeking a Staff Engineer who is eager to take ownership of core products. This role involves making significant architectural decisions and requires hands-on coding. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to see the direct impact of their work, with a short feedback loop from problem identification to implementation and user adoption.

Requirements

A track record of building complex systems from scratch, with the ability to articulate specific decisions and their rationale.
High agency and the ability to identify and execute on necessary tasks without waiting for perfectly scoped tickets.
Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-paced, often changing environment.
Daily use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) and a desire to further explore their capabilities.
Proficiency in Node/TypeScript/GCP.
Experience with greenfield development.

Responsibilities

Serve as the technical anchor for a core product, making impactful architectural decisions.
Write code and contribute directly to the development of complex systems.
Own production agentic systems in a regulated environment, including automated workflows, LLM-assisted QA, and AI features (RAG, function calling, evals).
Design multi-component systems across product domains such as Epic integration, prior auth pipelines, and patient communication infrastructure.
Set and maintain a high technical bar through personal code contributions and decision-making.
Ensure delivery across a workstream, managing cross-team dependencies, aligning roadmaps with product milestones, and being accountable for shipping software that solves user problems.
