Staff Software Engineer

GitwitBentonville, AR
$190,000 - $230,000Onsite

About The Position

Gitwit is an AI-first venture studio built to find problems worth solving and systematically explore, validate, and build new ventures. This role is for an engineer who wants to be deeply involved in shaping products from the earliest stages, influencing technical direction, and making key decisions about what gets built and how it reaches traction. Unlike traditional roles, this position offers repeated opportunities to build from zero, learn fast, and apply that learning across multiple ventures, providing the intensity of early-stage building without the risk of a single fragile bet. Engineers here work closely with designers, product strategists, researchers, and venture leaders, contributing to not just software but the ventures themselves.

Requirements

  • Evidence of building something from scratch far enough to make meaningful product, technical, and speed-versus-quality tradeoffs in the real world.
  • Thinking like a product builder, caring about what should be built, user needs, simplification, and what is not worth building.
  • Ability to move well in ambiguity and create clarity while building.
  • Strong technical judgment to make sound architectural and tooling decisions for the stage.
  • Voracious learning with sharp judgment about emerging technology, especially AI capabilities, tools, interfaces, and product patterns.
  • Having taste and caring whether something is sharp, usable, coherent, and worth a user’s time.
  • Ability to work as part of a real venture team, communicating clearly and collaborating well.
  • Desire for the real version of ownership, with authorship over what gets built and how it earns traction.
  • Instincts and a desire for a seat that allows them to be used.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an early engineer at a startup.
  • Experience building a new product or system from scratch inside a larger company.
  • Experience creating something independently and carrying it far enough to learn from real users, constraints, and tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

  • Shaping products from the beginning, defining what should be built, what should wait, and what should be cut.
  • Building from zero and shipping fast, taking ideas from concept to prototype to real product in users’ hands.
  • Seeing work in the wild immediately, as what is built ships and is used quickly.
  • Making foundational technical decisions, including choosing the right tools, architecture, and tradeoffs.
  • Working close to the truth by learning directly from users, pressure-testing assumptions, and adjusting quickly.
  • Building across the full product reality, considering usefulness, usability, differentiation, and economic soundness.
  • Operating at a pace that keeps things fun, with small teams, minimal process, and daily progress.
  • Helping shape ventures, not just software, by contributing to decisions about features, products, or companies.
