About The Position

The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable software solutions aligned with business objectives. This role requires expertise in software architecture, coding standards, and testing methodologies to ensure high-quality, secure, and maintainable products. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, anticipate risks, and drive continuous improvement through innovative technical solutions. The Engineer will also guide best practices in coding, automation, and deployment processes, supporting program health and delivering impactful results within a dynamic technology environment. About the team: The Walmart Content Experiences Group — Extended Reality Team develops cutting-edge retail solutions by integrating immersive and social technologies. This team leads the advancement of extended reality capabilities to enhance customer interaction with products online and in stores. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will guide engineering efforts to build scalable web applications and uphold technical excellence. Collaborating across disciplines, the team prioritizes innovation, quality, and alignment with business goals to deliver impactful software solutions that transform retail experiences.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in software development, specializing in frontend websites and shareable widgets.
  • Core Tech: JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Vue, Angular, Next.js, React Router, Redux, Node.js, GraphQL.
  • API integration and development expertise.
  • Architecture: Complex software and distributed system design, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Strong debugging and production support skills.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Azure, Google Cloud Platform, CI/CD, code management tools, SDLC, Secure SDL frameworks, telemetry.
  • Practices: Risk/cost analysis, functional/non-functional requirements, user stories, coding standards, quality/safety/security standards.
  • Proven delivery of large-scale software products in fast-paced environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years' experience in software engineering

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and scope requirements, including functional and non-functional aspects, to align solutions with business objectives.
  • Design scalable, modular software architectures incorporating disaster recovery and cloud-native principles.
  • Develop detailed designs, converting high-level concepts into functional modules with clear logic and mockups.
  • Lead coding efforts, ensuring adherence to standards, security, and maintainability across platforms and frameworks.
  • Drive test strategy and execution, employing automation tools to validate functionality, performance, and security.
  • Monitor program metrics and manage continuous integration and deployment processes to maintain project health.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve defects and improve product quality.
