About The Position

This team operates as the core infrastructure engine for Google's enterprise business, owning essential services including Customer, Domain, OrgUnit, and Device Management. These foundational identity and organizational structures serve as the backbone for major platforms like Google Cloud platform (GCP), Workspace, Android Enterprise, and Chrome Enterprise — meaning the team's work has ripple effects across Google's entire enterprise ecosystem. The team's core mission is delivering reliable, scalable, and user-friendly services for customer lifecycle and organization management, ensuring global enterprises can operate securely at Google's scale. They provide the critical bedrock supporting both Workspace and Cloud services. With AI's rapid growth, enterprises now face new demands around account management and organizational governance. In response, the team is partnering with GCP and other product areas on high-impact initiatives such as: GCP fast onboarding — streamlining enterprise account setup and unified device API — consolidating device management capabilities. In this role, you will be building the foundational platforms that power Google's enterprise business and shape the future of work in the AI era — high-leverage work with organization-wide impact.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience programming in Java.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Demonstrated expertise in the architecture, design, and operation of large-scale distributed systems.
Extensive experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to synthesize complex business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
Extensive experience leading the architectural evolution and seamless migration of mission-critical legacy systems at scale.
Proven track record of supporting and delivering high-impact, cross-organizational technical initiatives.
Demonstrated capacity to navigate and resolve extreme ambiguity within highly complex and evolving problem spaces.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical strategy, architectural design, and implementation of next-generation foundational services for Cloud Directory.
Drive cross-functional alignment and collaborate with PM, UX leadership, and stakeholders across Workspace, GCP, Android Enterprise, and Chrome Enterprise to shape the product roadmap and deliver end-to-end solutions for customer lifecycle management and organization governance.
Navigate extreme ambiguity and drive the technical goals for complex, large-scale initiatives.
Act as a technical multiplier across the organization, setting rigorous engineering standards, driving best practices for system health, and mentoring mid-level and executive engineers.
