Responsibilities also include improving software development workflows, forecasting system scaling limits, selecting technology stacks, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Up to 10% domestic travel is required, and telecommuting may be permitted up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, BioTechnology, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, or any occupation/position/job title performing coding and fullstack software engineering.
  • 7 years of professional experience building image-based check processing platforms using high-volume capture and Check 21-compliant ICL generation, ensuring auditable workflows for MICR extraction, image quality validation, and downstream clearing and settlement.
  • 7 years of professional experience designing and operating ACH systems with deep expertise in NACHA file formats, settlement windows, and return/reversal workflows, building automated origination, validation, reconciliation, and reporting pipelines for high-volume, compliant payment environments.
  • 7 years of professional experience delivering secure, high-availability card platforms across Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, and Discover, leading tokenization, and building PCI-compliant platforms.
  • 7 years of professional experience designing secure systems using encryption, access controls, and data minimization practices to protect sensitive customer data and meet internal security and privacy regulations.
  • 7 years of professional experience applying U.S. and international payments expertise to identify architectural risk, guide long-term platform modernization, and influence technical strategy with product and engineering leadership.
  • 7 years of professional experience designing and scaling secure, high performance backend platforms for transactional and payment systems.
  • 7 years of professional experience architecting resilient, cloud-native systems using autoscaling, multi-region design, and event-driven patterns to ensure high availability and fault tolerance for mission-critical platforms.
  • 7 years of professional experience architecting distributed enterprise systems using DDD, CQRS, and asynchronous messaging, integrating third-party payment services through secure, idempotent, and highly available APIs.
  • 7 years of professional experience building high-throughput, resilient architectures using RabbitMQ to orchestrate distributed, asynchronous workflows across payment and data platforms.
  • 7 years of professional experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines that automate testing, security checks, and cloud deployments for fast, reliable, and compliant software delivery.
  • 7 years of professional experience designing high-performance, ACID-compliant databases, batch pipelines, and data integration and reporting solutions (including SSIS and SSRS), optimizing queries, indexing, and analytical workflows using CTEs, window functions, views, stored procedures, and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance RESTful and event-driven APIs supporting high-volume payment, reconciliation, and reporting workflows, following secure, versioned, and contract-first interface practices.
  • Develop and improve reconciliation and settlement pipelines to increase observability, throughput, and operational resilience across ACH, card, and check processing systems.
  • Define and enforce architecture standards and coding practices across teams, ensuring consistent application of secure, scalable, and maintainable design patterns.
  • Contribute to foundational system architecture and provide technical guidance to distributed engineering teams through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to analyze business requirements and implement scalable, compliant technical solutions.
  • Evaluate technical trade-offs among delivery timelines, implementation complexity, and long-term scalability when designing and implementing software components.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and testing mechanisms to support platform reliability, observability, and release readiness.
  • Improve software development workflows by identifying and addressing inefficiencies in CI/CD pipelines, build processes, and infrastructure automation.
  • Forecast system scaling limits and architectural risks, leading multi-year modernization initiatives, including service decomposition, modularization, and cloud-native adoption.
  • Select and standardize technology stacks and architecture patterns, ensuring alignment with security, compliance, performance, and platform guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners, resolving technical issues related to system integrations, payment networks, and platform interoperability.
  • Provide technical input to customers or internal departments regarding software functionality, system design considerations, and ongoing maintenance activities.
