About The Position

The Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. The position applies cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility while integrating AI/ML components to advance intelligent automation. It involves technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives, with a focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making. Walmart Data Ventures operates with the agility of a startup and delivers data products. Its Scintilla platform provides customer-centric insights to help CPGs and Walmart merchants make informed, data-driven decisions. The team focuses on technical strategy, reliability engineering, scalability, and cloud-native architecture, as well as operational due diligence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Cloud-native architecture expertise, including microservices, containers, and automation, to support scalable and resilient systems.
Experience with software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable, modular solutions.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, or C++.
Ability to lead software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
Skill in DevOps engineering practices to enhance platform capabilities and developer productivity.
Experience applying data-driven decision-making to optimize engineering processes and outcomes.
Ability to conduct design reviews and take remedial actions to uphold engineering excellence and quality standards.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 4 years of experience in software engineering or a related area; or 6 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
