About The Position

Dutchie is seeking a Staff Engineer on the platform team who can be a technical thought leader, a project lead, and a hands-on developer. This role involves working on projects that can last multiple months and also long-term strategic initiatives. The Ecomm Platform team focuses on the foundation of customer experiences, owning, maintaining, and improving the suite of products that Dutchie offers to dispensaries (retail shops) and, by extension, their customers (consumers). The team is collaborative, comprising full-stack developers working with technologies such as Ruby, Rails, and React, and utilizing data stores like Mongo, Postgres, and Snowflake. The success of Dutchie is directly tied to the success of its retail partners.

Requirements

8+ years of development experience required.
Leadership skills, including experience successfully mentoring others.
Good communication skills, including cross-functional communication, both in writing and in person.
Experience building user experiences within complex products.
Pride in writing clean, tested, organized code with strong fundamentals.
Experience working in an agile environment.

Nice To Haves

Ruby, Rails and React are nice to have, but not required.
Ability to create and explain points-of-view, and adapt them when necessary.
Experience going through a rapid growth period in a previous company (from startup to mid-size).
Ability to think through problems starting from first-principles and the customer’s perspective.

Responsibilities

Develop mission-critical consumer flows for new features, as well as experimenting on old ones.
Partner with product and design to scope and plan work appropriately, creating flexible execution plans.
Mentor other engineers to unlock their potential and help them grow their skills.
