About The Position

The Data team at Solink builds and manages a growing list of over 300 integrations to various data systems, including databases, POS systems, access control systems, analytics platforms, APIs, and more. These integrations form the basis of Solink’s powerful data analytics platform, a critical component of the Solink application. We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer (P4) to join our Data Infrastructure team. At this level, you’re trusted to set technical direction for infrastructure supporting 10M+ events per day, to be a strategic collaborator with architects and other R&D teams, and to mentor colleagues across the team. You will work on multiple components of the product and AWS infrastructure, and your work will directly shape the scalability and efficiency of our data processing pipeline.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience, supported by a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology field
  • Experience working with SQL/NoSQL systems — especially Elasticsearch or DynamoDB
  • You thrive in team environments, lead design sessions, and communicate effectively with peers, product managers, and leadership
  • You’ve built and deployed applications using AWS services like Lambda, VPC, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, SQS, and Kinesis. Cloud-native thinking is second nature
  • You’re proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript and know how to deliver clean, efficient code across full stack applications
  • You have practical experience designing and maintaining serverless infrastructure at scale, and understand how to build for scalability and cost-efficiency
  • You’ve worked with data warehousing tools such as Snowflake and can navigate the challenges of building reliable, scalable data pipelines
  • You’re comfortable managing your work in Jira, participating in agile ceremonies, and helping teams break down and plan upcoming features
  • You take ownership of your work, move initiatives forward independently, and coach others through complex problems
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform, or Serverless Framework
  • Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire
  • Be a Canadian Citizen (dual citizens included), or eligible to work in Canada
  • Be willing to comply with Solink’s own security policies and standards

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with React or similar modern frameworks
  • Knowledge of information security and cybersecurity best practices
  • Comfort with multiple programming languages beyond JavaScript/TypeScript

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain backend systems and data infrastructure that support high volumes of integrations and real-time events across the Solink platform
  • Contribute to both backend and frontend development using Node.js, React, and Serverless frameworks, delivering performant, reliable features used by thousands of customers
  • Drive architecture decisions for the data pipeline and integrations platform, and document standards so they scale across the team
  • Work closely with architects, R&D, and cross-functional teams to implement new capabilities, improve system performance, and shape technical direction
  • Participate in and help lead recurring design and planning meetings to scope and break down future work with input from product and engineering stakeholders
  • Use Jira to manage and prioritize your work, taking full ownership of deliverables while maintaining strong team collaboration
  • Assist customer support and success teams by troubleshooting, resolving issues, and delivering clear, technical explanations when needed
  • Stay ahead of the curve by researching new technologies and contributing ideas to continuously improve product performance, maintainability, and scalability
  • Coach other engineers through complex problems, lead by example in code reviews, and share knowledge that lifts the whole team
  • Strategize with teammates and architects cross-functionally on key Data team initiatives
  • Lead projects end-to-end, keeping key stakeholders informed and anticipating issues before they block delivery
  • Coach and mentor other engineers through complex problems, and give constructive, direct feedback
  • Build frameworks, standards, and tooling that scale the team’s effectiveness beyond any single integration or feature
  • Continuously grow your own expertise and share learnings back with the team

Benefits

  • Meaningful equity
  • Fully paid health & dental (no waiting period)
  • $500 health spending account
  • Monthly reimbursement for fitness, wellness, or mental health programs
