Staff Software Engineer, Business Systems & Data
About The Position

We are full stack, automation, integration, and data engineers delivering internal apps, data products, automations, and integrations to Finance, People Ops, Product Ops, Legal, HR, and more. We embed in each team, become experts in their business problems, partner on the solution, and accelerate time-to-value. This is an AI-first, full-stack software engineering role spanning the complete scope of our team’s work. Your engineering experience and fluency with frontier AI technologies will drive continuous improvements in both the systems we build the way we build them. The sum total of this work will produce meaningful business impact on the way all of Amplitude’s critical business functions operate.
Requirements
- 5+ years engineering experience shipping and running production services
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Full-stack development experience spanning frontend, backend, tools and integrations
- An enthusiasm for understanding new business problems, learning unfamiliar systems, delivering improvements and evolving their design incrementally
- Experience working with data warehouses and SQL-based systems
- Ability to translate business problems to technical solutions and software designs
- Experience with frontier AI tooling including harnesses, MCP servers, and agents
- Curious and fast-learning across new domains as the work moves with the business
- Bias for action - comfortable rapidly iterating to turn business problems into prototypes and ultimately solutions
Nice To Haves
- Experience evaluating LLM systems using eval harnesses, regression suites, and accuracy tracking over time
- Familiarity with dbt, Snowflake, or medallion-style warehouse architecture
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, Workday, Zip, Ramp, or Stripe
- Prior work as an internal-tools, solutions, or platform engineer — where your users were internal stakeholders, not just external customers
Responsibilities
- Design and build full-stack apps and tools to solve high-leverage operational use cases across the business
- Build service connectors that enable AI and automation tools to work across business systems
- Evolve our tools and processes to increase team velocity, simplify our technical stack and leverage new AI-native approaches
- Drive end-to-end reconciliation across financial systems from quote to revenue recognition, enabling cross-system reporting and end-to-end traceability
- Own what you build across the full software development lifecycle
