As a Staff Software Development Engineer at CVS Health, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and deployment of critical integrated system releases. This position is essential for ensuring the delivery of business value and that production applications remain stable with excellent performance and optimal scalability. This position will work in an Agile scrum team environment, in close collaboration with business partners, product owners, architecture and other IT partners. As part of the Aetna Health Member Domain, you will drive the design and delivery of solutions that redefine the healthcare member enrollment experience. You will lead initiatives that enhance member outcomes and deliver measurable value, while overseeing a global team (onshore and offshore) responsible for successful execution of critical client implementations. In this role, you will actively engage with legacy systems and play a key part in their transition to modern, emerging technology platforms.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Mainframe development and support, utilizing one of the following technologies: COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, SQL, MQ, Xpeditor, Endevor or similar source control application
  • 3+ years of experience with large-scale offshore vendor support arrangements
  • Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop mainframe applications according to customer specifications and requirements
  • Participate in requirements gathering and design sessions
  • Work as part of a team to ensure solutions are designed to fully function in an integrated application suite
  • Design and develop solutions that enable applications to perform optimally, and which can scale to meet future business needs
  • Perform thorough unit and integration testing, and support QA testing and deployment activities
  • Monitor systems to ensure that they are functioning properly
  • Analyze and optimize applications; troubleshoot and resolve any issues
  • Create and maintain documentation related to mainframe applications
