About The Position

EmpiRx Health is the leading clinically-driven pharmacy benefits management company. As the pioneer in value-based pharmacy care, EmpiRx Health puts its customers and members first by enabling them to take control of their pharmacy benefits, healthcare outcomes, and financial results. We place more emphasis on member care than any other PBM by focusing on health outcomes first. Our pharmacists and clinicians are at the center of everything we do―and our population health solution delivers tailored strategies for our clients. Leveraging our newly launched, AI-powered pharmacy care platform, Clinically™, EmpiRx Health’s pharmacists and client experience teams provide the highest quality pharmacy care to our clients and their members. This enables benefits plan sponsors to keep their members healthy, happy, and productive, while substantially reducing prescription drug spending, which has been on an explosive growth trajectory in recent years. EmpiRx Health is in unprecedented growth, and we're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Customer Service Representative. In this critical role, The Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for the Data Engineering space provides technical leadership for quality engineering and test automation within EmpiRx Health’s Data Engineering practice. This role is responsible for driving the quality, reliability, and performance of our Enterprise Data Platforms and Data Operations, including Data Pipelines, Pharmacy Claims, Member Eligibility and Accumulators, built primarily on Databricks. The Staff SDET will partner with Data Engineers, Data Ops, Software Engineers, and Product Owners to define and implement AI-augmented automated test strategies across data workflows and cloud-based data solutions, using AI Coding Assistants to accelerate test design, test data generation, and regression coverage without compromising rigor.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing/using Test Automation Frameworks or Custom Off-The-Shelf test automation tooling for testing Data Engineering/Data Operations solutions.
  • Experience devising test strategies and appropriate scalability of Databricks' Declarative Automation Bundles (DAB), formerly known as Databricks Asset Bundles.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or PBM environments.
  • Familiarity with Medicare Part D, CMS regulations, or regulated data environments
  • Experience designing or contributing to AI-driven quality engineering strategies (e.g., AI-assisted test data generation, autonomous regression selection, or AI-generated test case automation).
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship for the Quality Engineering and Test Automation practice within the Data Engineering space, including team-level standards for AI Coding Assistant usage, prompt/context/loop/graph engineering, and responsible agentic AI integration within test automation workflows.
  • Define and implement test strategies, frameworks, and best practices for large-scale data processing systems in Databricks, incorporating AI-driven quality engineering strategies (AI-assisted test data generation, autonomous regression selection, and test case automation) as productivity accelerators.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for data testing methodologies and AI-assisted compliance testing (including automated claims validation patterns and AI-supported regulated workflows), guiding cross-functional teams in implementing scalable, reliable quality practices.
  • Design and execute automated tests for Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) / Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) pipelines, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and batch processes, leveraging AI Coding Assistants to speed up test authoring and coverage analysis.
  • Validate data quality, transformations, and business rules across claims, eligibility, and accumulations workflows.
  • Develop fully scalable test automation solutions for Databricks-based and cloud data environments.
  • Partner with Data Engineers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and SMEs to align testing with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Integrate automated data quality checks into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps teams.
  • Support root cause analysis for test defects generated during functional tests on the Data Engineering continuous delivery stream, performance bottlenecks, and production incidents, using AI-assisted log and pattern analysis to accelerate triage.
