Staff Software Engineer Enterprise Applications, Integrations, and Agentic AI Role Overview: Drive the design and delivery of enterprise-grade, AI-powered applications that transform how organizations orchestrate customer experiences at scale. This role directly influences how large enterprises adopt intelligent automation, improve service efficiency, and deliver seamless omnichannel interactions using Genesys Cloud. At Genesys, innovation is grounded in empathy and real-world impact, where engineering excellence enables meaningful customer and employee experiences globally. You will operate at the intersection of cloud architecture, full stack engineering, and agentic AI, shaping scalable solutions that solve complex business problems while maintaining performance, reliability, and security. This position offers high visibility across product, consulting, and customer teams, with ownership spanning architecture through production. You will contribute to forward-looking AI capabilities such as intelligent assistants, workflow automation, and real-time decisioning systems. The role provides strong exposure to enterprise-scale systems, modern AI frameworks, and evolving cloud-native patterns, creating clear pathways for continued technical leadership and influence across the platform.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building and scaling commercial software applications in enterprise environments
  • Strong full stack expertise in React, TypeScript or JavaScript, and Node.js
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python or Java
  • Demonstrated experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native architectures
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, including retrieval-augmented generation, tool calling, and structured outputs
  • Experience building or working with agentic AI systems, including multi-step workflows and autonomous execution patterns
  • Strong understanding of AWS services and cloud infrastructure design principles
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code
  • Proven ability to operate in customer-facing or consulting-driven environments with strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating AI platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar services
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel
  • Experience in customer experience or contact center domains
  • Knowledge of Genesys APIs, SDKs, or similar enterprise integration patterns
  • Experience building real-time analytics or streaming applications
  • Strong documentation and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Experience optimizing database performance and large-scale data systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end architecture and delivery of scalable full stack applications that improve customer experience outcomes and operational efficiency
  • Design and implement cloud-native systems on AWS that optimize performance, cost, and reliability for enterprise workloads
  • Build and deploy AI-enabled applications using LLMs, improving automation, decision accuracy, and user experience across customer journeys
  • Develop secure APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems that enable seamless integration with enterprise platforms and Genesys Cloud
  • Drive adoption of agentic AI patterns such as tool invocation, workflow orchestration, and contextual reasoning to enable intelligent automation
  • Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability to ensure production readiness and scalability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and delivery roadmaps
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, improving system resilience, telemetry, and long-term maintainability
