About The Position

The Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) is the State regulatory agency responsible for ensuring that appropriate standards are met for the construction, maintenance, and protection of the flood control system that protects life, property, and wildlife habitat in California's vast and diverse Central Valley from the devastating effects of flooding. The CVFPB is currently recruiting for a Staff Services Manager (SSM) I (Specialist) to serve under the general direction of the CVFPB Environmental and Land Management Manager. The SSM will work in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Drainage District (SSJDD) Land Management Section and will engage with local jurisdictions and Tribal governments in developing, implementing, and managing contractual agreements for reimbursement of funds as part of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Drainage District Property Maintenance and Abatement Program (Abatement Program). Requirements

  • A valid California Class C driver license is required for field work, site visits and board meetings.
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend embankments with a 2 to 1 slope and be able to work in adverse conditions that may include cold, wet, windy, and muddy conditions.

  • Knowledge of the State Plan of Flood Control is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly specialized and complex contracting functions including preparing and processing work agreements, interagency agreements and other documents, providing conformance with technical requirements and standards related to property management processes and the State Administrative Manuals, Department of General Services Guidelines, and other applicable statutes, rules, and regulations
  • Contract development and management services for the Division's property management contracts related to abatement of SSJDD property
  • Act as the Contract Manager on contracts and resource agreement with local governmental agencies to abate hazardous conditions on SSJDD property
  • Serve as the primary liaison with local governmental agencies in the Central Valley on the highly sensitive and critical public issue of homeless encampments on Board-owned land
  • Assist in advancing the Governor's Statement of Administrative Policy Native American Ancestral Lands.
