About The Position

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities. GDC Federated Security is the team within the Google Distributed Cloud organization responsible for ensuring every product GDC ships is as secure as it can be and increasing the assurance levels of security in the infrastructure underlying all our products. This team focuses on increasing the capabilities of our product teams to develop more secure products by design and by default, from patterns, tools, and frameworks. In this role, you have the opportunity to help set the direction for product security across Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) and partner with amazing teams across Google. These include existing security teams, privacy teams and engineering teams. You will be a part of the team that defines the focus, direction, and impact with regards to product security in this organization. There is an exciting mix of work to be accomplished across multiple security domains. A few examples are: product security reviews, AI security, building security tooling, vulnerability research, security data analysis, all with the goal of highlighting and driving down risk. Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling.
8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
3 years of experience with Cloud Security.

Nice To Haves

Experience building, scaling, or deploying machine learning models on enterprise AI platforms.
Experience scaling security impact using AI native solutions.
Experience utilizing static code analysis tools to maintain code quality, security, and performance.
Understanding of hardware architecture, particularly how software interacts with compute accelerators like GPUs or TPUs.
Ability to implement code automation practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

Lead product security as a horizontal domain or product vertical SME.
Develop a trusted partnership with product team partners to ensure security is built into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Focus on the holistic security strategy for GDC products.
Leverage AI tooling to Perform SDLC reviews, research and reproduce vulnerabilities, design secure systems.
Review and develop secure operational practices, and provide security guidance for engineers. Review designs and look for vulnerabilities, both with one-time reviews and longer term engagements.
