About The Position

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Staff SDET to support embedded software verification across Diagnostics, Communication, and Bootloader components. The position also supports hardware integration into test benches, test-bench maintenance, troubleshooting, and test automation. The role is based on-site five days per week in Newark, California, with a stated salary range of $170,000–$180,000.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10 or more years of relevant industry experience is preferred.
• Experience testing low-level embedded software.
• Experience developing hardware- and software-based tests from requirements.
• Experience converting manual tests into automated tests.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, and test environments.
• Experience with test scripting and automation.

Nice To Haves

• Automotive testing experience.
• Experience with Automotive Ethernet.
• Experience with CAN/CAN-FD and LIN.
• Experience with ISO-14229 diagnostic standards.
• Experience with Vector CANoe or similar tools.
• Experience with Jenkins.
• Experience with Git/GitLab.
• Python automation experience.
• Experience with on-chip debugging tools such as Lauterbach.
• Automotive hardware/PCBA-level debugging experience.
• Vehicle-level testing and debugging experience.
• Master’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead verification efforts for embedded software on target hardware.
• Bring up, configure, and troubleshoot new hardware on test benches.
• Maintain and debug existing test benches and validation environments.
• Develop and enhance test software, tools, and automation scripts.
• Convert manual tests into automated tests.
• Develop hardware- and software-based tests from requirements.
• Participate in test-code design and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, and test-environment issues.
