About The Position

Our laboratory aims to bridge our understanding of neural function and dysfunction at the level of molecules, cells, circuits, and behavior. We utilize techniques such as slice electrophysiology, in vivo silicon probe recording, 2-photon imaging, closed-loop optogenetics, EEG recording, and computational modeling in mice for our investigations. We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and highly motivated scientist with a passion for discovery and scientific excellence. The ideal candidate will have expertise at the intersection of neuroscience, neurological disorders, imaging, and computational analysis, and will play a key role in advancing research projects, developing new technologies, and mentoring trainees in a growing laboratory.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology, biomedical engineering, or related discipline
  • A strong publication record demonstrating scientific productivity and independence
  • Expertise in three or more of the following areas: epilepsy neuroscience, microscopy and image analysis, in vivo experimental approaches with mouse models, molecular biology and genomics, computational analysis (Matlab/Python)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and mentoring skills
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to rigorous, reproducible science

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead independent research projects
  • Establish and optimize new experimental and computational technologies
  • Train postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research staff
  • Analyze complex datasets and contribute to high-impact publications
  • Assist with grant preparation and development of new research directions
  • Build collaborations across Vanderbilt and with external investigators
  • Help shape the long-term scientific vision of the laboratory
