Requirements

  • Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related technical field.
  • PhD and 5+ years of experience, MS and 7 years minimum experience, BS and 10 years minimum experience.
  • Experience in organic chemistry with the ability to synthesize a wide range of chemistries, including small molecules, surfactants, polymers and other related materials.
  • Problem solver with ability to lead change, manage ambiguity, and be able to adapt to new situations and projects quickly.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to connect and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the use and application of chemical additives for oilfield related products (drilling fluids, fracturing & stimulation fluids, cement, completion fluids, production chemicals and others).
  • Formulation experience developing new products and improving existing products.
  • Prior experience with product-scale up, commercialization, or manufacturing process troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in a safe manner while identifying opportunities for improving safety.
  • Execute on projects, experiments and research of critical chemical components/products with high complexity along with high impact on the business.
  • Collaborate with multiple SLB divisions and business stakeholders/functions to determine best synthetic routes for cost effective scale up and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-division technical groups to qualify materials for their respective applications.
  • Demonstrate full use and application of scientific, project management, design excellence, and other principles, theories and concepts to assignments where precedents may exist plus working knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Provide solutions to a wide range of chemistry challenges associated with various drilling and completion applications via structure property relationships and foundational chemistry/engineering approaches.
  • Demonstrate initiative and creativity in identifying and trying new and different approaches.
  • Demonstrate the ability to translate understanding of chemistry/product compositions into viable products that are able to be manufactured internally.
  • Provide project or technical leadership for strategic sourcing projects.
  • May supervise others or serve as a technical resource and mentor in area of expertise.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement mindset and ability to modify processes to improve internal efficiency.
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize assigned tasks to ensure delivery.
