The Staff Scientist will provide technical solutions to our customers and support new product development related to Chemically Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR). Requirements

  • PhD. in Chemistry, Geology, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or related fields with 6+ years of experience; or M.S. in Chemistry, Geology, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related fields with 8+ years of experience.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data
  • Project leadership/management experience
  • Detail orientated and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to operate independently and as a part of a highly effective team.
  • Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both within and outside the business
  • Strong problem-solving skills and track record of successful innovation in the form of conference papers and/or patents.

Nice To Haves

  • Subject matter expertise in testing for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) including porous media testing (core flood experiments, spontaneous imbibition, and sand-pack evaluations) and fluid-rock testing.
  • Subject matter expertise in interfacial science, including understanding or structure/properties relationship.
  • Field experience and jobs designs.
  • Product development experience with taking a product from lab scale to commercial scale.
  • Rheology knowledge.
  • Sand Control and polymers experience.
  • Prior experience with mentoring and training other scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in a safe manner while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support the Chemically Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) team through field qualifications and product development.
  • Design, conduct, and interpret laboratory tests to support key customer projects.
  • Manage mid-high complexity projects once established and monitor progress to ensure targets are met, while liaising with internal and external customers.
  • Perform hands-on activities in the laboratory to execute projects with polymer and/or surfactant solutions.
  • Coordinate activities with the other groups involved in CEOR (analytical, polymers, surfactants, and reservoir engineering).
  • Communicate results to a wide range of audiences including internal and external customers.
  • Work effectively in a team environment with cross-functional members.
  • Monitor and track state-of-the-art trends across assigned technical domains.
