This specific role is for a mid-level stormwater professional, an Environmental Scientist/Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP), who will support environmental and stormwater compliance projects. The role involves assisting clients with stormwater regulations, preventing pollutant discharge, conducting inspections, developing SWPPPs, performing sampling, desktop evaluations, providing training, and preparing documentation. The position may involve supporting senior staff on routine and complex projects, as well as special initiatives. Travel, including overnight stays, periodic weekend work, and overtime, will be required. The role offers cross-training in natural resources and environmental permitting.

Requirements

  • BS or BA degree, preferably in an environmental discipline, sciences, or engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience supporting experience in SWPPP, including sampling and analysis, non-storm water and storm water visual observations, and preparation of Rain Event Action Plans, environmental restoration, landscape construction, and erosion control
  • Current QSP Certification (QSD Certification is preferred)
  • Experience with the California Stormwater Multiple Application and Report Tracking System (SMARTS)
  • Familiarity with the California Stormwater Construction General Permit and the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA) Construction Handbook
  • Possess knowledge of environmental key issues and trends, including emerging best practices and technology, and familiar with industry language and terminology
  • Competency with Google Earth KMZ
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Conducting stormwater inspections
  • Developing and implementing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and/or site stabilization plans
  • Conducting stormwater sampling

  • Preparing related documentation and reporting
  • Supporting environmental and stormwater compliance projects
  • Assisting clients in complying with stormwater regulations
  • Preventing pollutants from leaving the project boundary and entering waterways
  • Cross-training in natural resources, including wetlands and/or environmental permitting
