About The Position
Saint Joseph's Medical Center is seeking a Full Time Registered Professional Nurse for our Ambulatory Surgery Department with demonstrated skills in core and primary care specific competencies based on the patient population served.
Requirements
- At least 1-2 years medical/surgical experience
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Licensed in NY State
- BLS/ALS/PALS Required
Responsibilities
- Observing patients for side effects of anesthesia
- Monitoring and recording patients vital signs
- Monitoring patient’s level of consciousness throughout sedation recovery
- Performing post-operative tasks such as administering medication or changing dressings
- Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physicians and other members of the patient’s care team
- Providing comfort and answering questions when patients awake from sedation
- Educating patients and families regarding their post-surgery care at home
