About The Position

The Wound Care RN works with nursing staff and physicians to provide clinical care of patients with wounds, ostomies, continence and other special skin care needs. Uses general nursing knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and health assessment to assist in the intervention of wound, ostomy and continence care problems.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nursing (RN) License required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care clinical experience as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Willing to work under supervision to assist and provide evidence based methodologies to assess patient status and recommend care.

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification in wound care preferred, i.e. (WCC) Wound Care Certification, (WTA) Wound Treatment Associate or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in wound, ostomy and continence care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care of patients with wounds, ostomies, continence and other special skin care needs.
  • Use general nursing knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and health assessment to assist in the intervention of wound, ostomy and continence care problems.
  • Assess patient status and recommend care.
  • Lead/facilitate informal educational sessions at the bedside to nursing staff.
  • Evaluate progress of wounds.
