About The Position

The Urgent Care nurse provides professional nursing care during the initial phase of acute illness or trauma for patients of all ages. The UC nurse triages and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological, or social needs as well as factors influencing patient flow through the emergency care system. The UC nurse works quickly to assess the needs of each patient, prioritize care based on the critical nature, works to stabilize the patient, initiate treatment, discharge the patient after the emergency is over or make arrangements for a longer hospital stay. The LPN performs administrative duties that include, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry in medical records. Clinical duties will include measuring and recording vital signs, collecting demographics and medical information including review of medication list, preparing patients for examination, cleaning rooms and equipment and stocking supplies. This position will involve the administration of medications as ordered by the physician. Performs specific competencies as directed by the department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program (for LPN)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (for RN)
  • LPN license and IV Certification active in the state of Missouri (for LPN)
  • Nursing License active in the state of Missouri (for RN)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates effective knowledge of scope of practice
  • Exhibits valuable time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nursing experience preferred (for LPN)
  • Previous nursing experience preferred (for RN)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (for RN)
  • Demonstrate effective leadership abilities
