About The Position

This position is for an Evening Shift RN in the Psychiatric Crisis Department, working 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The role is part-time, with FTE options of 0.6 or 0.8 (24 or 32 hours per week), and requires every other weekend availability. The nurse is expected to float to other Behavioral Health nursing units as needed. The starting pay is $36.90 per hour, with additional shift differentials for evenings and weekends. The primary responsibility is to assist patients through their episode of care efficiently and safely, while providing developmentally appropriate patient care, practicing professional nursing, and promoting patient advocacy.

Requirements

  • BSN or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire, required.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
  • Assesses individualized patient needs.
  • Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel.
  • Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices.
  • Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.
  • Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care.
  • Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Floats to other Behavioral Health nursing units as needed at the direction of leadership.
