Requirements

  • RN license
  • NRP Certification within six months of hire
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. class completion within eight months of hire
  • Knowledge of OB specific medications (Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate)
  • Ability to perform sterile vaginal exams
  • Knowledge of fetal monitoring
  • Competency in scrubbing/circulating for C-Sections
  • Knowledge of Breastfeeding techniques
  • Knowledge of infant security procedures
  • Knowledge of oxygen therapy for newborns
  • Knowledge of infant umbilical catheters
  • Ability to recognize and treat hyperbilirubinemia
  • Proficiency in performing and documenting newborn hearing screens and CHD screens
  • Knowledge in caring for stillborn infants and offering grief support

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient assessments in a systematic and organized manner to provide high quality and safe outcomes.
  • Provides direction and collaborates with team members to support a healthy work environment.
  • Analyzes collected data to formulate a plan of care that contributes to high quality and safe outcomes.
  • Implements a plan of care with measurable criteria consistent with work class performance levels.
  • Evaluates the plan of care with the patient and family/support system to maintain world class levels of patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Contributes to a high performance work environment by seeking educational resources that enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills.
  • Achieve NRP Certification within six months of hire and maintain throughout.
  • Attend S.T.A.B.L.E. class within eight months of hire and maintain throughout.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of OB specific medications (Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate)
  • Performs sterile vaginal exams to assess labor progress (dilation, effacement, station, position)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fetal monitoring, including application of fetal scalp electrode and interpretation of reassuring and non-reassuring fetal monitoring strips.
  • Demonstrates competency in scrubbing/circulating for C-Sections
  • Utilizes appropriate Breastfeeding techniques, holds and equipment to promote successful breast-feeding
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infant security procedures
  • Demonstrate knowledge of oxygen therapy in the treatment of newborns with respiratory distress
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infant umbilical catheters
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of hyperbilirubinemia and provide Phototherapy set-up, use and cleaning of equipment
  • Demonstrates proficiency in preforming and documenting newborn hearing screens, and CHD screens
  • Demonstrates knowledge in caring for the stillborn and offering grief support to the family.
