About The Position

STR Behavioral Health is opening a new campus in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, featuring a 30-bed residential facility designed for intimate and personalized mental health care. This facility aims to provide an ideal client-to-clinician ratio for individualized attention, support, and holistic recovery. The Registered Nurse (RN) will interact with clients and team members throughout their shift, assisting direct care staff in meeting client needs. The RN will collaborate to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment, perform medical care tasks such as taking physician orders, administering medications, assessing and documenting client health and mental status, and coordinating health services.

Requirements

  • Current RN or LPN licensure within the state of Pennsylvania
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Active First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Clear TB skin test or chest X-ray

Nice To Haves

  • Psychiatric nursing experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides a comprehensive nursing assessment identifying client’s medical needs, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Records and transcribes physicians written and verbal orders.
  • Carries out or delegates STAT orders immediately.
  • Communicates observations and recommendations for clients’ plan of care, providing input into the treatment team process.
  • Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and brings to the attending physician’s attention.
  • Documents the administration of medication (including PRN) in according to established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates all pharmacy and laboratory orders, delivery, and refills with the appropriate vendors.
  • Responsible for the security of all controlled medications kept in the facility and monitors the administration and accurate recording of use.
  • Administers medications according to physician orders and medication administration record.
  • Administers injections, as needed/ordered.
  • Takes blood, urine and other laboratory samples as ordered by the medical providers.
  • Performs accuchecks, urine drug tests and breathalyzers on clients when needed.
  • Provides, structures, and maintains a therapeutic environment in collaboration with other staff.
  • Documents observations in nursing assessment and daily notes in electronic charting system, Sunwave, in accordance with facility policy in a timely manner.
  • Documentation reflects plan of care outlined in the Master Treatment Plan.
  • Documentation reflects ongoing assessment of resident behaviors and feelings as expressed and are addressed appropriately within the program or with referral partner.
  • Prepares clients for discharge through individualized counseling and instruction prior to discharge in a clear and concise manner; providing written instructions if needed.
  • Provides education to clients and families about medications, side effects, contraindications, and physical symptoms through individual counseling and group counseling.
  • Provides review of clinical records for accuracy and quality documentation.
  • Assists in the coordination of admissions, transfers, and discharges to provide a smooth and efficient flow of communication.
  • Coordinates facility infection control program ensuring staff and clients meet policy and procedure requirements.
  • Can be relied upon to be at work as scheduled and is rarely absent from work, notifying the supervisor if absent.
  • Demonstrates an ability to adapt to changes in the facility function, management styles, and facility routines.
  • Reads, understands, and adheres to all company policy statements on ethics, conduct, and conflict of interests.
  • Adheres to facility policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, implementing regularly.
  • Maintains positive attitude and acts as a team player with others on the treatment team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
