About The Position

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, adhering to the scope of practice defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. Our nursing practice utilizes the ANA’s Scope and Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance, incorporating additional components of clinical practice across five domains: Clinical Knowledge and Practice, Professional Practice, Leadership, Professional Development, and Evidence-Based Practice, Quality and Research. The Staff Registered Professional Nurse III (Staff RN III) is licensed to practice professional nursing in Georgia, has a minimum of two years of full-time experience as a registered professional nurse, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, an Associate Degree (AD), or a Diploma in Nursing. The Northside Hospital Staff RN III manages care of an assigned group of patients according to the nursing division's philosophy and policies, including the Northside Nursing Collaborative Care Model. The practice of all professional nurses at Northside Hospital reflects the values of collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment. Northside Hospital Staff Registered Nurse positions are based on a sequential progression from novice to expert, implying that nurses at a specific level possess the knowledge, skills, competencies, and critical thinking abilities of all prior levels.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training.
  • Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  • Other required cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications (ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc.) are unit specific.
  • Additional education, competencies and/or certification may be required as a condition of employment, as specified by the clinical unit.
  • Other required RN attributes are unit specific.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree
  • National Certification in Clinical Specialty
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in lactation.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines.
  • Adheres to the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
  • Protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, facilitates healing, and alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations.
  • Manages care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the nursing division, to include the Northside Nursing Collaborative Care Model.
  • Reflects the values of collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment in practice.
