About The Position

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, adhering to the scope of practice defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. Our nursing practice is guided by the ANA's Nursing: Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, 3rd Edition (2015), focusing on the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy for individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations. The practice encompasses clinical knowledge and practice, professional practice, leadership, professional development, and evidence-based practice, quality, and research. The Staff Registered Professional Nurse III (Staff RN III) is licensed to practice professional nursing in Georgia, has a minimum of two years of full-time experience as a registered professional nurse, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, an Associate Degree (AD), or a Diploma in Nursing. The Staff RN III manages care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the hospital's philosophy and policies, including the Northside Nursing Collaborative Care Model. The practice reflects values of collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment. Northside Hospital Staff RN positions represent a sequential progression from novice to expert, meaning a nurse at a higher level possesses the knowledge, skills, competencies, and critical thinking abilities of all prior levels.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  • Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units including Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) and Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC).
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines.
  • Practices professional nursing in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
  • Protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, facilitates healing, and alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response.
  • Acts as an advocate in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations.
  • Utilizes ANA's Scope and Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance.
  • Incorporates clinical practice components including Assessment, Diagnosis, Outcomes Identification, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, Clinical Information Systems (Documentation), and Patient Care Technology.
  • Engages in Professional Practice including Communication, Culturally Congruent Practice, Ethics, Professional Practice Evaluation, and Resource Utilization.
  • Demonstrates Leadership in Collaboration, Community Involvement, Environmental Health, and Leadership.
  • Pursues Professional Development including Education of Self and Others, Expansion of Knowledge, Advancement of Practice, and Contribution to the Professional/Clinical Specialty.
  • Applies Evidence-Based Practice, Quality, and Research principles, including Nursing Research, Quality of Practice, Patient Satisfaction Scores, and External Reporting/Benchmarks.
  • Manages care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the nursing division, to include the Northside Nursing Collaborative Care Model.
  • Reflects the values of collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment in practice.
