The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients. The RN demonstrates competency in delivery of care to all patient populations, and is responsible for the management of both the unique and predictable needs of the patient who has undergone an operative or invasive procedure in the Operating Room and/or the GI/Bronch lab. They will utilize the principles of medical/surgical nursing along with a unique knowledge base regarding anesthetic agents and techniques to assess, diagnose and treat patients in the immediate post anesthesia period.
