A Brief Overview Coordinates professional nursing and individualized, family centered care to patients/families through the use of the nursing process and clinical skills in accordance with standards and hospital policies and procedures. On call responsibilities vary depending on department. Varied schedules to include weekend and holiday patterns.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited school of nursing Required or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of nursing Required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience Required
  • Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure current and valid in the state of Nebraska Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pediatric patients Preferred
  • Previous experience with EPIC Preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (except NICU) within 180 Days Required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NICU only) within 180 Days Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Cath Lab, CARES and ED only) within 180 Days Required
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ED only) within 1 Year Required
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (ED only) within 1 Year Required or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ED only) within 1 Year Required

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to defined unit scope and nursing practice standards, appropriate collaborative problems (CPG's)/nursing diagnoses(ND's), or protocols.
  • Develops individualized patient/family plan of care using CPG/ND’s, and practice guidelines/protocols to meet identified needs.
  • Implements and evaluates nursing actions in accordance with the individualized patient/family plan of care and patient condition/needs.
  • Documentation reflects accurate assessment/evaluation, modification, and patient’s response to therapy, changes in condition, and therapeutic interventions/procedures.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section
  • Assists FCC Coordinator in arranging and coordinating appointments prior to the delivery process.
  • Accepts assignment to mentor student nurse observation experience in unit.
  • Accepts assignments to share/teach knowledge and provide clinical support as a relief preceptor for new staff.
  • Professionally seeks opportunities to help teammates during shift as needed.
  • Accepts and completes other assigned tasks in a professional manner.
