About The Position

The Emergency Staff RN assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care in the Emergency Department, utilizing the nursing process for a designated time frame. Provides care of these patients according to Marshall’s standard of practice. Maintains good public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. Functions as the patient’s advocate at all times. Oversees the performance of any non-professional whose activities impact their patient’s care. Ensures the safe handling of infectious material and ensures patient and staff safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nursing (RN) license required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Trauma Nursing Core Courses (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire
  • 2 years RN experience required.
  • Has the physical and mental health sufficient to accomplish the duties of a RN and is able to meet the pharmacology requirements of Marshall Medical Center.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with EPIC.
  • Must have basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification strongly preferred within 6 months of hire
  • Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) strongly preferred within 2 years of hire
  • ER experience preferred.
  • Per Diem status positions, 2+ years Emergency department experience is strongly preferred.
