The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and within the scope of practice defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. The practice of Professional Nursing at Northside Hospital utilizes ANA's Scope and Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance, incorporating clinical practice components across five domains: Clinical Knowledge and Practice, Professional Practice, Leadership, Professional Development, and Evidence-Based Practice, Quality and Research. The Staff Registered Nurse III (Staff RN III) manages care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the hospital's philosophy and policies, including the Northside Nursing Collaborative Care Model. The practice of all professional nurses reflects the values of collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment. Northside Hospital Staff Registered Nurse positions are based on a sequential progression from novice to expert, implying that nurses at higher levels possess the knowledge, skills, competencies, and critical thinking abilities of all prior levels.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  • Minimum of two years (2) years full-time experience as a registered professional nurse.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, an Associate Degree (AD) or a Diploma in Nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree
  • One (1) year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Family Centered Care/Maternal Infant Unit/Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines.
  • Protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, facilitates healing, and alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response.
  • Acts as an advocate in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations.
  • Manages care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the nursing division, to include the Northside Nursing Collaborative Care Model.
  • Practices reflect the values of collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment.
  • Applies knowledge, skills, competencies, and critical thinking abilities consistent with the assigned level (Staff RN III).
