About The Position

This position supports a collaborative Multiple Principal Investigator (MPI) lab dedicated to improving women’s health and sleep, especially among Veterans. This lab is based at the Northern California Institute for Research and Education (NCIRE), San Francisco VA Health Care System, and the University of California, San Francisco. The MPIs, Dr. Carolyn Gibson and Dr. Lizabeth Goldstein, are clinical psychologists with federally-funded lines of research intended to fill high-impact clinical gaps. Research projects may include clinical trials, survey studies, epidemiological analysis, qualitative interviews and focus groups, and psychometric development. In addition to active research projects, another goal of our program is to build sustainable infrastructure to support women’s health research, including providing mentorship and community for women’s health research staff, trainees, clinicians, and investigators. The incumbent will serve as the Study Coordinator and will provide day-to-day study coordination activities for several research studies. These tasks will be done under the direction of the MPIs and in accordance with NCIRE policies. Please include a cover letter with your application.

Requirements

  • BA, BS, or equivalent degree
  • Minimum of 1 year research coordination experience with human subjects
  • Computer literacy with emphasis on Windows operating systems and software applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in psychology or health science related field
  • Presentation at an academic conference and/or publication of an academic manuscript
  • Experience conducting research focused on women, Veterans, and/or sleep
  • Experience working with Veterans Health Administration software systems

Responsibilities

  • Maintain essential research study documentation.
  • Oversee systems for tracking / monitoring study progress to ensure adherence to timelines, SOPs, and applicable regulations.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager to develop recruitment strategies and materials.
  • Recruit study participants from internal and external sources.
  • Conduct and document informed consent with study participants.
  • Schedule study visits with participants.
  • Perform chart review to determine study eligibility.
  • Data entry and management for multiple types of data.
  • Conduct qualitative interviews and focus groups with participants.
  • Conduct study assessments/surveys with participants.
  • Assist the Program Manager with preparation of progress reports for funding agencies.
  • Contribute to basic quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
