About The Position

As a Staff Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting, from a quality perspective, new product development projects for Data Center Fiber product portfolio under the Connectivity and Cable Solutions (CCS) business segment. You will work closely with the quality, engineering, operations, product line management, and project management departments to have a successful product launch onto a manufacturing site. This position will sit onsite, 5 days a week in Claremont, North Carolina.

Requirements

Good understanding of quality concepts, problem solving and process improvement techniques, root cause analysis, 8D methodology, FMEAs, control plans, SPC, CpK, DOEs, poke yoke, PPAPs, FAIRs.
English (writing and speaking), required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
Possess a high-energy level, strong work ethic and desire to learn.
Show innovation through unique ideas and is self-driven.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge and experience in fiber products and termination process, highly preferred.
Experience in new product introduction and engineering changes, preferred.
Familiar with molding processes is a plus.
Familiar in Minitab, preferred.

Responsibilities

Active participation in new product development, sustaining, investigation and cost reduction projects assigned, overseeing adherence to the documented PDP procedures.
Complete quality deliverables (control plan, packaged product review and retrospective review) for assigned new product development projects in a timely manner.
Active involvement on pre-production runs collaborating with NPI team to identify design and process improvements.
Conduct packaged product reviews for onsite new product launches.
Conduct random process audits on initial production orders of new product launches.
Support the resolution of lab testing nonconformances for assigned projects, using the 5 whys root cause analysis technique.
Participate in D and PFMEAs for assigned projects, monitor their completeness, and use of proper ratings.
Collaborate with site NPI and Operations Quality teams to identify areas to improve design for manufacturability, introduce poke yoke and other solutions to address repetitive manufacturing quality issues.
Lead the resolution of design related customer or internal complaints to determine proper root cause and corrective/preventive actions.
Support the Quality Monitoring Program, including the review of test plans, test reports and resolution of identified nonconformances with the involved manufacturing sites.
Analyze local product/process deviations to identify repetitive issues related to the product design, and drive improvements to reduce the number of deviations.
Support special quality projects or initiatives as needed.
