About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Services Program Administrator, this role provides assessment and consultation services to consumers, primarily those whose eligibility for services is being assessed. The Staff Psychologist will also consult with staff and other community agencies, and offer clinical supervision to a Psychological Assistant. The position involves completing psychological assessments, interpreting results, formulating diagnoses, and writing reports in a timely manner. Effective communication of findings to consumers, family members, professionals, and other appropriate individuals is essential, as is daily cooperation within an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include conducting court-ordered assessments, evaluating consumer eligibility through reviews of developmental or psychological assessments, and recording findings in an eligibility statement. The role also entails providing clinical oversight and guidance to other clinical staff, formulating, monitoring, and revising treatment plans, and coding CDERs daily. Participation in fair hearing and judicial processes, reviewing behavioral programs for Level 4 facilities, and providing routine consultation, education, and training to various stakeholders are also key duties. The Staff Psychologist will complete necessary forms for public benefits, assist in formulating agency policies related to eligibility and clinical treatment, and represent IRC at case conferences and interagency meetings. Maintaining currency in the field, especially regarding eligibility or treatment issues, attending required training, and staying current with California Board of Psychology licensure requirements are crucial. The role also requires appropriate use of equipment, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, utilizing IRC’s IT systems securely, and adhering to all safety rules and IRC’s plans (Injury and Illness Prevention Plan, Workplace Violence Prevention Plan). Compliance with IRC’s Personnel policies and procedures, and performing additional duties as assigned, are also expected.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Psy. D. in clinical psychology, or within six months of completing the graduate degree program.
  • Possession of a license as a psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology.
  • A pre-licensed psychologist will be considered if they are in the process of completing their licensure requirements.
  • Ability to handle change well and be flexible and adaptable in dealing with interruptions, new priorities, and new assignments.
  • Ability to follow oral and written direction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of responsible professional experience including substantive experience in testing and diagnostic evaluation of individuals with developmental disabilities, physical handicaps, emotional/mental disturbances, or learning disorders is preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Complete psychological assessments as assigned and complete necessary paperwork, reports, etc. on a timely basis.
  • On referral, perform and interpret psychological and behavioral assessments, formulate diagnoses and write related reports on a timely basis.
  • Effectively communicate findings to consumers, family members, professionals and other appropriate individuals, daily.
  • Daily, work cooperatively and effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • As assigned, complete psychological assessments requested by the court.
  • Through reviews of developmental or psychological assessments, assess consumer eligibility.
  • Record findings in an eligibility statement.
  • As assigned provide clinical oversight and guidance to other clinical staff.
  • Formulate, monitor, and revise treatment plans as requested.
  • Code CDERs daily as required.
  • Participate in all aspects of the fair hearing process and in various judicial processes as required.
  • Upon request, review behavioral programs/proposals for Level 4 facilities and others.
  • Provide routine consultation, education and training to staff, community agencies, parents and consumers.
  • Complete necessary forms for consumers to obtain various public benefits.
  • Offer guidance and assistance in formulating agency policies and procedures as they relate to eligibility and clinical treatment issues.
  • As assigned, represent IRC at case conferences and interagency meetings.
  • Keep manager informed of pending work, work in progress and any problems encountered.
  • Aggressively seek out opportunities to maintain currency and to expand relevant knowledge base particularly as it relates to eligibility or treatment issues.
  • Attend training sessions as required and stay current with California Board of Psychology licensure requirements.
  • Maintain good standing with the California Board of Psychology.
  • Use equipment appropriately and report any need for repairs; keep work area neat and orderly and free from hazards.
  • Utilize IRC’s IT systems as assigned, maintaining security and following IRC protocols, procedures, rules and requirements.
  • Observe all safety rules and comply with IRC’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and Workplace Violence Prevention Plan.
  • Comply with IRC’s Personnel policies and procedures.
  • Perform different or additional duties as assigned
