About The Position

As a Staff Psychologist in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Programs, incumbent works as part of a Mental Health Team to provide intervention services to a panel of clients with complex, often co-morbid mental health disorders, including Depression, PTSD, Substance Abuse, Schizophrenia and other chronic, serious mental health illnesses. They may be involved with or manage the provision of clinical care, development and implementation of intervention programs and evaluation of outcomes. Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to: Providing a full range of mental and behavioral health diagnostic services including C&P evaluations as assigned. Serving as an authoritative source of information in the use and interpretation of tests to make differential diagnoses. Interviewing patients, determines the type of assessment battery needed, conducts testing, interprets the results of testing and produces reports with conclusions and/or recommendations. Presenting informed reports or educating multi-disciplinary staff on the use of newly proven or evidence-based interventions. Consulting with medical and/or mental health staff on the development or evaluation of mental and/or behavioral health intervention programs. Providing comprehensive professional care documentation in the patient record system, adhering with timeliness standards for quality care. Engaging in clinical care team meetings and ensuring coordination of care with other clinicians involved in the treatment plan of the patient. Using telehealth modalities for provision of patient care, in accordance with current policies and guidelines.

  • When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
