This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Understands the relevant biological, anatomical, psychological, developmental & social contributors to the problems presented by patients in the primary & specialty care population including understanding of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, & substance abuse disorders. Provides group, individual, & family psychotherapy & counseling to veterans & family members regarding adjustment to behavioral medicine/health psychology problems. Familiarity & expertise with a wide array of psychological assessment tools & their appropriate application in behavioral medicine/health psychology, including clinical interviewing, personality testing & assessment of chronic/terminal health syndromes, mood disorders, anxiety disorders & substance abuse. Provides psychoeducation to patients & family members to support healthcare adherence, terminal illness, & end-of-life. Required to know relevant research literature in the area of mental health interventions & motivational interviewing with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment. Required to perform program development & program evaluation. Performs evaluations for patient conditions that include depression, anxiety, substance abuse & general emotional & cognitive functioning. The assessment & care provided accommodate to the cognitive, emotional, chronological maturation, & individual needs of the person served. Conducts assessment appropriate to individual patient with attention to on the implications of test results for a veteran's every day, real-world function & successful treatment/management of health problems with an emphasis on behavioral health factors associated with the specific health condition. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions with a strong emphasis on evidence-based models of care. Provides psychoeducation to patients & family members to support healthcare adherence & disease management. Assumes responsibility for timely completion of all clinical charting & documentation. Consults to ambulatory care staff & primary care providers as well as inpatient & specialty providers on a wide variety of patient care issues pertinent to medical treatment & psychosocial recovery. Consult & coordinate care with community providers following HIPPA practices to support psychosocial recovery of the person served. Provides services in traditional clinical setting & by utilizing telecommunication technology to provide services to patients who do not have access to specialty care. Provide clinical supervision to health professions trainees & unlicensed psychologists. Support activities of the Psychology Training Program & participate in relevant educational seminars. Participates in planning of measurement, gathering & analysis of outcome data to guide program evaluation & development. Works with Interdisciplinary Team Members to develop programs including treatment protocols & care process. Maintains ongoing scholarly & self-education activities. Participates in research with relevant populations as opportunities arise. Participates in psychology peer review. Participate in research with relevant populations as opportunities arise. May serve as faculty at local or other system-wide education & training conferences. May serve as primary investigator on research projects.
