About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (1 to 5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Review available medical records and other evidence contained in the claims file. Conduct mental health assessments using structured diagnostic clinical interviews. Perform and interpret basic psychological testing. Prepare and submit reports to the Veterans Benefits Administration through CAPRI, or other required systems upon completion of the assessment. Render opinions supported by facts, current literature, and professional reasoning. Seek or recommend additional consultations and testing when appropriate. On occasion - and in response to inquiries from Veterans, VISN, VA Central Office, Congressional offices or other involved parties - review, investigate and prepare written correspondence. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, physicians, patient representatives, management, and VBA personnel. Work in a collaborative, professional, and productive manner with other team members in the C&P department as well as staff from other departments and disciplines within the VHA and VBA to meet the goals of the C&P program at the Indianapolis VAMC. Participate in Peer Review Process and Quality Improvement activities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and utility of C&P examinations. Serve on Medical Center or VISN committees when requested by Chief of C&P or Chief of Staff. Adhere to VHA, VBA, and OMA guidance as relayed by the Chief of C&P. Adhere to service standards regarding matters of timeliness accuracy and compliance, as well as quantity and quality of work produced. Notify the Chief of administrative matters, significant occurrences, and problem areas along with recommendations for corrective actions. Perform other assigned duties as directed by the Chief of C&P. This position does not involve direct patient care or therapeutic treatment however it may be necessary to manage behavioral issues that arise during evaluations using sound psychological principles. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
