About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional This announcement is being used to fill a variety of positions across 8 Veterans Affairs Medical facilities located in Alexandria, LA, Biloxi, MS, Fayetteville, AR, Houston, TX, Jackson, MS, Little Rock, AR New Orleans, LA, and Shreveport, LA. Applicants may select the location(s) they wish to be considered in the application. Exact duties and expectations will be discussed during the interview process. Responsibilities

  • Ability to diagnose mental disorders and provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, conduct psychological assessments for clinical or administrative purposes
  • Ability to treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders.
  • Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including: individual, group and family psychotherapy, caregiver stress support, cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal and other forms of evidence based psychotherapy.
  • Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure codes).
  • Effectively communicates with and utilizes other disciplines (e.g., nursing, medicine) to facilitate treatment planning and implementation.
  • Participates effectively in team meetings, treatment planning conferences, etc, when appropriate.
  • Collaborates with divergent multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
  • Provides supervision of trainees conducting direct clinical care.
  • Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.
  • Remains involved in program evaluation and/or research activities.
  • Provides administrative duties, including attending organizational meetings.

  • Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
  • Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
