About The Position

The Staff Psychologist is a professional, licensed or license eligible to practice psychology in the State of North Carolina, or is a professional with an equivalent degree and license. They are expected to carry out this practice in an ethical and informed manner within the administrative framework of Campus Health Services. They provide individual and group therapy and assessment; supervision and training of practicum students and interns; outreach programming; and crisis intervention, including daytime and evening weekend on-call services. Consultation with members of the University community and participation on counseling related campus committees is also encouraged and expected. The therapist plays an important role in health education, especially through individual contacts with student clientele.

Requirements

  • Professional, licensed or license eligible to practice psychology in the State of North Carolina, or a professional with an equivalent degree and license
  • Practice in an ethical and informed manner
  • Board eligibility for licensure by the North Carolina Board of Psychology
  • Board certification is expected (Psychologists who have just completed their internship will be given adequate time to convert from board eligible to board certified)
  • Equivalent degrees in social work are also acceptable
  • Current knowledge in depth of his/her field and its standards of practice
  • Experience working with traditional college aged students
  • Commitment to the practice of quality mental health services

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with traditional college aged students (age 18-25)
  • Previous experience in the University setting
  • Understanding of the processes of maturation which occur during college years, undergraduate and graduate
