About The Position

The Project Engineer II can be a technical leader on a New Development Project, working with the design engineers conducting the detailed execution and in constant coordination and communication with the Senior Director of Engineering. This role involves customer engagement, project schedule management, budget tracking, ECR/ECN coordination, risk management, and concurrent project management. The position requires strong communication skills, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to provide technical guidance. Limited design engineering work may also be assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with strong, pro-active communication with management on task or project progress, challenges, solutions, and requests for support
  • Self-starter, organized, thorough and meticulous, able to work under pressure to ensure quality and delivery, but quality over delivery if any compromise cannot be avoided despite schedule pressure
  • Skilled at project engineering with interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Resourceful and well organized
  • Ability to lead a New Product Development project and effectively work in a cross-functional team
  • Technical Writing – Procedures, Results, as assigned
  • Dedicated to high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to perform in an ambiguous environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Access)
  • Manufacturing environment experience required
  • At least two years’ relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of PMBOK at minimum
  • U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • PMBOK techniques a plus
  • Previous experience with Integrated Project Teams is a plus
  • Valve design familiarity a plus
  • Valve, regulator, fluid mechanics/control related coursework/education
  • PMP Certification a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Customer engagement (internal and external customers)
  • Written and verbal communication internally and externally
  • Create, complete, and manage New Product Development project schedules (Gantt charts)
  • Resource & Milestone planning
  • Support Senior Director, Chief Engineer and Program Managers in tracking budgets and forecast to complete (on time, on budget)
  • Engineering Change Request and Notice (ECR/ECN) coordination and some processing
  • Risk Management, matrix, mitigation
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Primary contact for design engineering for internal cross-functional meetings
  • Communication with external customers to cover control of order changes technically; assurance that test and quality standards are achieved; interface with the customer in drawing and document information exchanges; review of contract specifications and communication of the requirements
  • Supports updates to department metrics as assigned
  • Assist the development of project engineering and management processes
  • Limited Design Engineering work as assigned, including technical papers, calculations and analysis, and models/drawings depending on need and current skillset.
  • May also provide technical guidance for the preparations of technical proposals
  • All other duties as assigned
