About The Position

Tin Can is seeking a Staff Product Manager to focus on conversion and user adoption. The role involves ensuring that families who consider purchasing a Tin Can device ultimately do so, and that those who purchase the device fully utilize its features, such as the Party Line Plan for easy communication with extended family and friends. The product manager will be responsible for the initial stages of the customer journey, including advertising, website experience, and the overall consideration phase, ensuring it aligns with the brand's aesthetic and values. This is a hands-on position requiring a deep understanding of family decision-making processes, a strong sense of brand aesthetics, and the ability to execute quickly and meticulously.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in consumer product management, specifically in consumer growth.
  • Strong quantitative skills with a proven track record in running experiments and a data-driven approach.
  • Demonstrated success in improving conversion or attach-rate metrics, beyond just shipping features.
  • Experience with user research, capable of translating family conversations into actionable hypotheses.
  • Exceptional taste and a strong understanding of brand aesthetics, ensuring a high-converting site reflects the brand.
  • Excellent cross-team collaboration skills, with experience working daily with engineering, Brand, and marketing.
  • Strong judgment regarding user trust, quality, and long-term trade-offs, particularly in a product for children.
  • Technical and data fluency, with an understanding of systems and scaling.
  • Proficiency in using AI as a multiplier in work.
  • Ability to drive work forward with minimal supervision while partnering on strategy.
  • Hands-on and scrappy approach, willing to perform tasks directly.
  • Low ego and high enthusiasm, with a collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and address the primary reasons families hesitate to purchase a Tin Can or do not fully utilize its features.
  • Conduct research with families to understand which marketing messages are most effective.
  • Translate broad objectives into clear hypotheses and a focused, testable product backlog.
  • Design and launch product initiatives in close collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Develop systems and tools to facilitate rapid experimentation and build a robust testing engine.
  • Define key success metrics and ensure accurate measurement through instrumentation.
  • Execute experiments, analyze results, and make informed decisions on scaling, iterating, or discontinuing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align product work with the overall strategy and company values.
  • Contribute as a senior generalist across the product surface when necessary, while maintaining ownership of the conversion area.
